Lungo i bordi dei manoscritti medievali si trovano i cosiddetti marginalia, segni esplicativi o decorativi che accompagnano il centro. Tuttavia, è interessante notare come spesso non assolvano a questa funzione: proliferano forme e parole che si allontanano dal testo di riferimento; cessando di essere mera recinzione, diventano altro, uno spazio di apertura radicale. Zoomando sui bordi, entrando nelle loro porosità, si aprono scenari inediti, “spazi nuovi da cui poter articolare il nostro senso del mondo” bell hooks.
In the margins of classical manuscripts there are the so called marginalia, explanatory or decorative marks that go with the centre. Nevertheless, it is interesting to see how often they do not follow the sense of the text they refer to: shapes and words appear moving from the central text; ceasing to be a mere enclosure, they become something else, a space of radical openness. Zooming on the margins, getting into their porosity, unpredictable scenarios appear, “new locations from which to articulate our sense of the world” bell hooks.
